Curved Log Cabin Anniversary Quilt – Laying out the blocks!
I have a very special quilt to share with you today! This curved log cabin anniversary quilt is a quilt that I had the pleasure of creating for a special couple!
This quilt gets its curved look from the inequality of the rows on two sides vs the rows on the other two sides. Half of the strips are 1 1/2″ wide and the other half are 2 1/2″ wide. There are blocks with wide red and narrow white, and blocks with narrow red and wide white stripes. There are so many layout possibilities for this block. I am, however after a very specific look.
So far I have several of the blocks pieced and am playing with the layouts. I think these photos are getting close to what I am looking for!

I think this is the one!

I think this is the one I like the best! I added some extra red strips on half the blocks. They are a little darker and seem to give it the definition that the design needed. Now for many more blocks to be pieced! I have my work cut out for me. This will be a King size quilt! Lots of blocks and pretty good size borders before I can get this on the frame! I would love to hear your ideas on quilting this in the comments! Share any tips you might have with me on working with a quilt this large!
I hope you are enjoying the beginning stages of this curved log cabin anniversary quilt and I will post more along the way!
