Christmas Season is Here!

The Christmas Season is here…and so is the cold! It’s a chilly 45 degrees here in Kansas this cool day and it’s starting to feel like the Christmas season is here!  The colder weather is definitely starting and that means it’s time to bundle up and get to work on those cold weather projects!  Today I am in finishing mode.  I have a quilt off the frame that needs bound.  A few new crochet that need patterns written and ends woven in.  Now all I need is a decent movie binge so I can sit and get all of this finished!  Maybe a little Grinch marathon…. I am super excited about this quilt that I need to finish up.  Have you ever had those quilts that were always intended for some purpose, but you want nothing more than to just keep it for yourself to look at?  This is one of those for me.  I love the Grinch story and am loving this quilt.  I always want to make one of everything to keep, but this is one I just want all for myself.  Here is just a sneak peek, but there will probably be more pictures as I sit and work on it! Got to find my Christmas mojo this week, too!  I have been busy getting orders filled and quilts quilted and still have not pulled out the Christmas tree!  In truth there is still Halloween candles that need to be pulled off the mantel to make room for stockings.  If I get this binding finished maybe I will write my patterns this evening by Christmas tree lights.  Then I can snuggle in, get some work done, maybe some online Christmas shopping, and be a little festive. Better get moving if I am going to get all this …

The Holly and The Ivy Row – Featured Christmas Carol Row-Along

The Holly and The Ivy Row – My Featured Christmas Carol Row It’s my day to show my featured Christmas Carol Row!  The Christmas Carol that I chose was The Holly and The Ivy.  I chose this because I wanted to do a traditionally pieced row and I had a holly block in mind.  The individual blocks in this row could easily be used to create a border on a larger project.  You could also increase the size of one and make it the focal point with Christmas fabric borders to create a stunning piece.  The finished size of the row is 12″x30″ and is pictured as a horizontal row.  To create a vertical row you could simply rotate the two center ivy blocks. I started off putting my row together with the holly block.  I wanted something simple that would go together quickly and show off the fabrics!  A sponsor for the Row-Along Northcott Fabrics was generous enough to provide these beautiful fabrics to designers to sew out the rows.  The photos really do not do it justice.  These fabrics really sparkle and shout Christmas spirit! The fabrics so generously provided by Northcott for this row are: Toscana 9020-54 (crown), Artisan Spirit Shimmer 20259M-73 (ivy), Artisan Spirit Shimmer 20260M-24 (holly berries), and Toscana 9020-11 (background). Once I had the Holly blocks, the rest of the row just came together!  There are three simple pieced blocks representing the crown, the holly and the ivy in this classic Christmas Carol.  I hope you enjoy this pattern and I would love to see your finished rows and quilts from this Row-Along! This pattern is available to download for free for one week only! I hope you enjoy my featured Christmas Carol Row! Click here to download pattern. Or on Craftsy here. And …
